Opencourt was established to create a court for everybody. Whether you’re a competitive junior or learning the game as an adult, there is a court open to you! Our goal is to connect the tennis scene of Santa Barbara. Part tennis, part social club, open court believes in the power of connection through community.
Our mission is to inspire the current and future generation of tennis players through high quality junior clinics, adult clinics, private lessons and social events.

MEET COACH GARRETT
Garrett Patton is a lifelong student and teacher of tennis. He grew up in Boise, Idaho, idolizing the Boise State Men’s Tennis program where his father was the head coach. Garrett eventually led Boise State to four consecutive Mountain West Conference championships and four NCAA appearances where he played the no. 1 singles and doubles position. The Broncos earned a national ranking of #15 in Div I. Garrett graduated from Boise State University in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Communication and a Master's degree in Kinesiology (Athletic Leadership).
Garrett played professionally after college, touring Asia, Europe, and North America on the ITF futures circuit. He also worked for the USTA as a national hitting coach on the WTA tour.
He then became the Men’s Tennis Associate Head Coach at Cal Poly, followed by coaching stints at the University of Michigan and UCSB. He was also a coach for Team USA at the Master'U BNP Paribas in France where Team USA earned three gold medals and one silver. While at the University of Michigan, Garrett headed the Adaptive Tennis Program in its inaugural year as a program in 2021.
Garrett and his wife Alaina moved from Ann Arbor to Santa Barbara in 2021. During that time he has coached the Santa Barbara High School boys and girls teams, and worked at La Cumbre Country Club as a tennis professional. You may see Garrett and Alaina grabbing a coffee or hiking the trails in their spare time.
